Wife Waits to Tell Husband of Euromillions Win

Do you think you could keep quiet if you won a EuroMillions fortune? One lucky wife waited five weeks before telling her husband they had won nearly £300,000. Angela Sutherland from Wick in Caithness kept the news to herself until her husband John returned from his job an offshore mechanic on an oil rig so they could pick up their life changing cheque and celebrate their win together.

The couple scooped £282,940.50 in the EuroMillions draw on Tuesday 7th June when they matched all five main numbers and one lucky star but Angela decided to wait until John was back on shore before phoning him to tell him about the win and she describes the time as the longest wait of her life. For five weeks no-one knew anything about the win and there was even a public appeal asking the owner to come forward and claim their prize.

John who actually left for work n the day of the EuroMillions draw says “Angela checked our ticket the day after the draw, at which point I was working offshore. When she called to tell me, I couldn’t believe it. I was in shock. We’d never won anything before other than on a flutter on the Grand National. This win has enabled us to make plans we’d only ever dreamed of.”

The couple who have three young daughters plan to spend some of their EuroMillions jackpot on a family trip to Florida before paying off their mortgage and treating themselves to a purple Mini.
