A Scottish man who scooped a huge £4.7 National Lottery jackpot two years ago has used some of his jackpot payout to help the woman he loves. The Scottish lottery winner bought his partner new hips after the NHS refused to perform the surgery until she was 60.
40 year old Mark Page from Dundee in Scotland has paid for a £20,000 operation for his partner Carol Moreton to have both of her hips replaced. Carol had lost over an inch in height and was in crippling pain due to osteoarthritis, but the black and white policy that the NHS has for replacing hips meant that she would have had to wait 14 years for the operation if she hadn’t had it performed privately.
The operation has changed Carol’s life. Lottery winner, Mark had to assist his partner walk, to do things around the house and even help her take a bath due to the severity of her condition but thanks to the operation, which they probably couldn’t have afforded before winning the lottery, Carol has got her quality of life back. Mark and Carol say that becoming lottery winners has given them a feeling of security and allows them to enjoy their love of holidays.
