The world of lotteries is very weird place right now with jackpots all over the place reaching near record levels. Over the past two weeks we have bought you news of truly massive jackpots in both the Superenalotto and the Powerball and now it’s the turn of the Brazilian lotto. No-one won lasts night MegaSena rollover jackpot which means its carries over yet again making this Saturdays draw worth a massive a R$31 million.
The MegaSena draw takes places every Wednesday and Saturday but unlike our own National Lottery the MegaSena numbers are picked in pairs from two spinning cages to produce a two digit number between 01 and 60. The first cage contains balls ranging from 0 to 5 to produce the first digit and the other cage numbers between 0 and 9 to produce the second digit. If both cages draw the number 0 it is automatically replaced with the number 60. Last nights numbers were 2, 6, 11, 36, 37 and 48 and although no-one matched all six balls the draw did produce 112 big winners who pick up R$20,172.50 each.

The next draw will take place this Saturday with an estimated jackpot of R$31 million which at current exchange rates works out at about £11,295,543.75 making its value almost three times more our own estimated National Lottery. This however is far from the biggest ever MegaSena jackpot that was won on New Years Eve last year and was worth a massive R$144.9 million.
