Last night’s UK National Lottery had a £2.2 million jackpot to play for following the £4.85 million jackpot being won on Saturday but the Wednesday night lottery draws saw tiny National Lottery jackpot prizes again, with each of the three jackpot winners taking home just £739,121 each.
In stark contrast to the frequently won but lower jackpots of the National Lottery the two major US lotteries, Mega Millions and Powerball have both seen their jackpots rollover and climb to nearly $100 million. Admittedly, the US lottery jackpots have to be taxed whereas the all UK National Lottery winners receive their entire prize tax free but even after taxes the US jackpots are monsters compared to the UK National Lottery’s.
US lottery jackpot values are also based on the amount you will receive if you take annuity payments as opposed to receiving a lump sum payment but even then, when Frank Griffin won the $141 million Powerball Lottery jackpot earlier this month he opted to take a lump sum payment which gave him $47 million after taxes, which is approximately £30 million. Now compare that to the £739,121 which last night’s National Lottery jackpot winners took home.
The lottery numbers for last night’s UK National Lottery draw were; 3, 11, 18, 23, 38 and 49 with the bonus ball being drawn as 34. Three ticket holders shared the £2,217,363 winning £739,121 each.
Last night’s Irish Lottery numbers were; 2, 10, 16, 18, 36 and 41 with the bonus ball being drawn as 5. There were no jackpot winners so the £4,832,246 rolls over to Saturday.
The Wednesday night Powerball Lottery numbers were; 4, 17, 35, 50 and 57 with the Powerball being drawn as 12. As there were no lottery jackpot winners in last night’s draw the jackpot rolls over to Saturday night which has an estimated jackpot of $95 million.
The Tuesday night Mega Millions jackpot also rolled over. The lottery numbers selected in the Tuesday night Mega Millions draw were; 4, 16, 36, 40 and 53. The Mega Ball drawn was 18. There were no jackpot winners so the $83 million jackpot rolls over to Friday night’s draw which has an estimate jackpot of $99 million.
