Try and cash a fake lottery ticket?

We all dream of winning the lottery but I imagine most of us dream of buying a ticket or two and getting lucky. However a dim-witted woman from the US attempted to make a fake lottery ticket and attempted to cash it. It does make you wonder, how could somebody be so stupid as to try and cash a fake lottery ticket?

The woman, from Arizona painstakingly manufactured a fake lottery ticket by cutting two losing lottery tickets and joining them together to create a winning sequence of numbers chosen from previous lottery results. Did this deluded woman not understand that each lottery ticket has a unique reference barcode which is scanned when the lottery ticket is presented to be claimed? Duh!

The woman took her DIY lottery ticket to her local store and attempted to claim the $3,000, which she had generously awarded herself as a prize, but the store clerk simply scanned that all-important barcode on the lottery ticket and the scam was discovered. Speaking about the incident lottery spokesman Ernie Passailaigue was quoted as saying, “You can’t cure stupid.”

This ludicrous idea isn’t the first time and certainly won’t be the last time that somebody attempts to defraud the lottery but it has to go down in lottery history for being one of the most stupid lottery scam ever.
