Wrong lottery tickets that won the Powerball jackpot

The shroud of mystery which surrounded the winner of Boxing Day’s $128 million Powerball Lottery jackpot has been lifted. This winner of this huge lottery fortune is incredibly lucky to have scooped the jackpot at all as he was given the wrong lottery tickets when he bought them. However, in a stroke of luck it was the wrong lottery tickets that won the Powerball jackpot.

Rob Anderson, a Toyota car plant worker from Kentucky, US stopped off at a petrol station to buy three individual Powerball Lottery tickets to give as stocking-filler Christmas presents but the store clerk put all three Quick Pick lines of lottery numbers on the same ticket. When Anderson queried the error the clerk asked him if he wanted to void the ticket or keep it for himself. He checked the change in his pocket, saw that he had a few loose dollars and decided to simply buy more tickets, keeping the original three sets of lottery numbers.

When Anderson returned home he tossed the wrong lottery ticket into a draw and forgot about it until after the draw. Upon realising his good fortune, the Powerball Lottery winner sent lawyers to Kentucky Lottery HQ in a bid to keep wraps on his identity for the time being, which caused a stir in media and press circles as it was an unusual thing to do. Normally lottery winners phone the claim lines the second they realise that they’ve won then jump in the car and race to the lottery office.

Until now the only firm plans that lottery jackpot winner, Anderson has made is to buy a new car and take a holiday to Hawaii but if the discipline and composure shown so far is anything to go by, it’s unlikely that he will be blowing his cash in the blink of an eye, as we at Online Lotto have reported other lottery winners doing many times in the past.
