Second $587.5m Powerball Winner Officially Named

The second half of the mega $587.5 million jackpot has finally been claimed, two weeks after it was won. The winner has been officially named as 37 year old married Matthew Good from Fountain Hills, Arizona, who is believed to work in the electronics industry. However, Mr Good has requested to remain as anonymous as possible, shunning a press conference which an official from the Arizona State Lotto attended on his behalf. World Biggest Unclaimed Lottery Prize Expires Today

The largest unclaimed lottery prize in the world is due to expire at 23.00 tonight, unless the rightful winner comes forward at the eleventh hour. The unclaimed prize is half of the jackpot for the Euromillions draw on 8th June 2012, which saw two ticket players share jackpot worth £158 / £127 million. The first winner from Belgium has already claimed their half, leaving £63.8 million for the other winner, a UK ticket holder. But, six months on, that winner has still not been found, and is at the risk of losing their prize. Read more

The $587.5 million Powerball jackpot, which was won by two ticket holders’ just days ago (see our news piece here for full details), has had the first half of its winnings claimed by the ticket holders from Missouri. After the Powerball had officially checked and confirmed the ticket, the winners have been named by local news WPTV as Mark and Cindy Hill, a fifty something couple from the small town Dearborn in Missouri. Shopkeeper Tried to Steal Grandmothers Winnings

A dishonest shopkeeper has this week been convicted of trying to claim a Grandmother’s life changing winnings as his own. 77 year old Maureen Holt whose 80 year old husband still works for a security firm took her lottery ticket into the Best One Convenience Store in Oldham but shopkeeper Farrakh Nizzar aged 30 checked the ticket and told her she was not a winner even through she had actually struck it lucky on the EuroMillions millionaire raffle.
