Only yesterday we brought you the news that the state of Iowa is to introduce ticket sales of the Mega Millions multi-state lottery from the beginning of next year and now it looks like yet another US state is to start selling both Powerball and Mega Millions lottery tickets. If all goes well and there are no complications Powerball tickets will be sold in Texas from the start of next year.
Until recently, when US lottery players went to buy tickets the only had one choice of multi-state lottery to play. This was due to the agreements of both the Powerball and Mega Millions lotteries which prevented them from selling lottery tickets in each other’s territories but thankfully things are changing. Recent inter-state cross-selling of both major US lotteries has seen, what many believe to be, a move towards a truly national lottery in the US.
Both the US Powerball and Mega Millions lotteries are capable of raising some serious jackpots. The record Powerball jackpot stands at $365 million while the record Mega Millions jackpot just eclipses it at $370 million. What’s $5 million between friends when there’s another $365 million sat in the bank?! But if these two lotteries ever combined we would see some astronomical lottery jackpots, maybe as high as $500 million.
The introduction of Powerball ticket sales in Texas is still in the hands of lottery officials, still to be decided for sure but as soon as any official news is released we here at Online Lotto will bring you all of the details.
In the meantime if you want to buy tickets for the US Powerball and Mega Millions lotteries you can do so here at Online Lotto by clicking the Powerball link below or selecting the Mega Millions tab at the top of the page.
