Skipton Man Reveals Winning Lotto Method after Landing £2.2 Million

A Lotto player from Skipton who scooped £2.2 million with his wife by playing online has revealed that he used a random number generator to pick his winning line. Peter and Claire Occardi matched all six main numbers drawn on Wednesday 16th September to pick up the life-changing prize and he is delighted he stuck to his method of selection.

“I’m a bit of a geek and I used a scientific calculator to generate random numbers. It’s an electronic means of picking the numbers out of a hat” – Peter, a self-employed engineer originally from Glasgow, explained, before admitting that it took him a little while to realise that they had landed a seven-figure fortune.

He recalled in the Express: “I checked my emails, as I do every morning, and noticed I had a message from the National Lottery asking me to check my account. We’d had a similar email last week and we had won £25, so initially I thought it would be another of the same so I didn’t really think much of it. On first glance at my phone I thought we’d won just over £2,000, but I looked again and realised there were too many digits.”

Peter has now set his sights on buying a plane, having just been granted a pilot’s licence this summer, while he has also found a new nickname for his wife inspired by the sitcom Only Fools and Horses. He said: “I’ve started calling her Rodney, which I don’t think she appreciates – ‘this time tomorrow, Rodney, we’ll be millionaires’.”

Claire does not intend to accompany Peter when he takes to the air, as she said in the Express and Star that, “keeping my feet on the ground is definitely where I prefer to be”, but, like her husband, she has no plans to quit work. Peter stated: “Claire really wants to go into property and business coaching and I’ve always wanted to set up my own manufacturing business, and now I can.”

The Lotto jackpot has been won in seven out of eight draws since the start of the month and another top prize of £2 million will be available in the next draw on Wednesday 30th September. You can buy tickets now from authorised retailers or play online just like Peter Occardi as you try to become the latest big winner!

A UK player put an end to a run of six EuroMillions rollovers last night and scooped a massive £53.1 million (€73.5 million) in the process. The ticket holder matched all five main numbers of 8, 20, 24, 28 and 49 plus Lucky Stars 8 and 9 to become the country’s 48th EuroMillions jackpot winner.

The player is yet to come forward and may not even realise yet that they are the lucky owner of a life-changing sum of money, but they headed up another night full of cash awards for players across Europe. A single player matched five main numbers and one Lucky Star to bag €1.2 million and nine players, four of whom bought their tickets in the UK, matched five numbers to receive £36,534 (€47,324).

Other prizes distributed on the night ranged from £3.20 (€4.20) for matching two main numbers up to £3,574 (€4,629) for matching four main numbers and two Lucky Stars. You can find a full prize breakdown from last night’s draw, including the Millionaire Maker code which is worth £1 million to one UK player, at the Results page of Euro-Millions.com.

There are plenty more chances this week to join last night’s winner on Millionaires’ Row, with an estimated £2 million up for grabs in this evening’s Lotto draw and £10 million (€15 million) available when EuroMillions is drawn again in Paris on Friday.
