A 59-year-old carer from the Cornish town of St Just was just minutes away from being too late to buy his winning lottery ticket. Roger Gillespie rushed to the newsagent where he always buys his lottery tickets and managed to buy a lucky dip just seconds before the National Lottery terminals close down at 7:30pm but lucky for him that he did, as the last minute lottery ticket won a jackpot of £2,969,627.
