Record breaking Lotto profits

The National Lottery operators have recently announced record breaking Lotto profits showing nearly a 7% increase in sales based on the same time last year. In the year to March the National Lottery operator has made a whopping £5.6 billion through ticket sales. This increase has beaten the previous record of £5.5 billion set between 1997 and 1998 and is an amazing result considering seven of the ten biggest lotteries in the world showed a fall in sales over the last year.

Irish Lottery ticket sales have fallen by over 11 per cent between 2008 and 2009 according to figures released last week. The falling ticket sales has been echoed by numerous rollovers, low jackpots and many draws not even awarding second tier prizes.

We all know that the UK National Lottery gives millions of pounds each year to good causes throughout Britain, helping all sorts of different charities and associations cash to help them build new facilities, restore national treasures and even help children who fallen outside of the education system but the UK National Lottery isn’t the only lottery to help the needy. So far this year the Colorado Lottery has helped needy causes to the sum of $120 million too.
