A lottery syndicate of airport workers won £2.6 million playing the National Lottery and unusually the lottery winners were told via Facebook of their jackpot win. The 23-strong lottery syndicate had bought National Lottery tickets for two years but prior to winning the jackpot they’d never won more than £40.
National Lottery funds to repair Truro Cathedral

The Heritage Lottery Fund is to use National Lottery funds to repair Truro Cathedral, as the Cornish cathedral currently has much unsafe stonework and without assistance from the Lottery Heritage Fund could have fallen into a state disrepair. But thankfully the Diocese of Truro can now undertake the much-needed repairs thanks to a £400,000 grant from the National Lottery.

Unsurprisingly, in a bizarre drawing of the EuroMillions lottery last night there were no ticket holders who matched all 5 main EuroMillions number plus both lucky stars. There were, however 15 lucky EuroMillions ticket holders who matched the 5 main lottery numbers plus 1 lucky star. That’s nearly twice as many EuroMillions tickets that won the 2nd prize compared to the number of tickets that won the 3rd prize.
